His perspective

Why He Stopped Initiating

The requests have stopped. He may have found it easier to hide the hurt than risk another refusal.

He no longer asks, so the evenings feel easier. No tense moment to manage. No disappointed face when you are tired. You may think the problem has eased. It is possible he has simply stopped putting himself in the place where it hurts.

When quiet is self-protection

  • He expects another refusal before he asks.
  • Reaching has begun to feel humiliating.
  • Stopping looks safer than showing how much the loss matters.

You should never have to say yes to keep him from going quiet. He is responsible for how he handles disappointment. And if the distance has lasted months, it deserves a conversation even if his silence has made the house calmer.

Do not mistake silence for resolution

Ask him what stopped the invitations. Leave room for an answer that is not an accusation against you and not a declaration that everything is fine. If he still wants closeness, you can talk about how to make reaching and refusing less bruising. If your own desire has changed, say what you know about it. He cannot guess his way back into a relationship that neither of you is discussing.
